STOLEN PEARLS RETURNED.
THIEVES EXTORT LARGE SUM, (Per Press Association —Copyright.) NEW YORK, October 20. The police announce that 65,000 .'dollars was the sum paid for the return of Mrs Donahue’s pearls. No questions yre re asked. Mrs Donahue’s pearls, valued at 680,000 dollars, were stolen from the Metropolitan Hotel. Detectives failed to obtain the faintest clue until a “reformed criminal” opened negotiations with them, offering to return the pearls if 100,000 dollars’ reward were paid and no questions asked.
