LORRY DESTROYED BY FIRE.
THREE MEN ARRESTED. (Per Press Association.) „ GISBORNE, October 21. This morning, a Public Works lorry, employed on work on the East Coast road, was found destroyed by fire near Pouawa. Owing to a slight defect, on Monday evening it was decided to leave the lorry on the roadside overnight, and when the overseer went to the spot this morning he saw only the smouldering remains of the machine. Three men have been arrested in connection with the affair, on charges of theft of 20 gallons of benzine, the property of the New Zealand Government, and of mischief.
