HOCKEY. AUSTRALIANS BEAT WAIRARAPA
CARTERTON, August 13. The Australian hockey team olayed its. final match in New Zealand against Wairarapa to-day, when the visitors, in spite of the wet, sloppy field and frequent showers, inflicted a severe defeat on the local team by eight goals to two.
LAWN TENNIS. JOHNSTON DEFEATS RICHARDS. NEW YORK, August 12. William Johnston assured himself of second position in the American Davis Cup team by again defeating Vincent Richards in a test match at Forest Hills, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.
