' After two postponements due to heavy rain, the August meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club was commenced at Addmgton yesterday in pleasant conditions. The attendance was large, though the crowd did not seem to be quite up to that ot some previous years. Many visitors were present from all parts ot the Dominion, while oificers and men froh the American fleet were interested spectators of their national sport. The totalisator investments for the day were £47,521 10s, compared with £42 684 on the opening day last year (Mondav), and £53,358 on the Wednesday," when the second day's programme was disposed of.
