•Geraldine Road Board.—There were present at the montldy meeting of the Board, Messrs J. Kelland (chairman), W. P. Studholme, K. Brophy, J. M. Barker, and Metcalf. Personal. —The many friends oi Mr Charles Braddell will learn with pleasure that he went through.a serious operation successfully, and is now doing well.—Mr Robert Davison, of ltakaia, who has been in the hospital fur sonne days as the result of a broken leg, is progressing favourably. Volunteers' Banquet.—The Oddfellows' Hall was well filled last evening on the important occasion of the 21st annual re-union of , the officers and members of the Ashburton Rifle "V clunteers. Captain Dolman presided at the banquet, and was supported by Lieutenants Haves and Clarke, and the guests included Mr and Mrs T. Bullock, Captain and Mrs Sparrow, and others. Several members of the old Rifle Company also attended. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Major Douglas, Captain G. A. M. Bucklev, the Mayor, and others. Between 'the speeches songs were given by Lieutenant Clarke, Colour-Sergeant Schwartz, and Sergeants W lllers, Leiteh, and Baker, Captain DotaJW, ex-Sergeant Jessop, and Private Chilflls. The accompaniments were played oy Mi- H. A. Gates. The latter part ol the evening was devoted to dancing, to music supplied by Miss Simmonds Band.
