STALLHOLDERS' ACTIVITIES SWEETS AFTERNOON AND ° DANCE.
The good work that has been done by the Allenton Sports Club, and the value of the schemes it has m hand tor Ihe improvement of the pbyug <"g thpre is being realised by the residente of that fortion of the town and a good response is being made to the va?ious appeals for assistance sent out. Yesterday afternoon, Mr and Mrs Henry Stephenson placed their beautiful property "Bleak House" at the disposal of the committee in charge of the sweets stall at the forthcoming Carnival for a sweets afternoon, and +Wp was a large number of ladies prel£S! Mr S epfienson briefly welcomed the Visitors, who brought with theiri a .fine collection of sweets for the stall. Mrs Stephenson provided a dainty affprnoon tea and musical items wero Sven by Mesdames H. B Naylor and] R L Stephenson, Misses Olga I Raphael, E. Claridge and B. Clandge, I aiiri Mr H. Stephenson. In the evening about 200-people' assembled at the Allenton School, where a- "hard-up" dance was held in aid of the funds of the produce stall. Some very original and amusing costumes were worn, the prizes, which were pre-! S ted by' Miss M McDowel tong won by Miss May Willers ( Topsy ), Ind Mr J. Cannon. A feature was the "mysterious supper," the various ! items being selected from a menu bearing most Wsome names, for quite i harmless delicacies Music *or the 'fiance was provided by Mr . . I HompUnn, a. "Lucky Spot" waltz being won by Mr J Mora, and Miss Vestv About 1 £2O was obtained for the stall which the secretary (Mr E. Bathurst) considers a very satisfactory amount,
