METHODIST LADIES' EFFORT. FURNISHING THE NEW BUILDING The Baring Square Methodist New! Church Ladies' Guild has transformeif the Tanerod Street Hall into a very, attractive fair, the proceeds from} business at which will be. devoted to the fund far furnishing the new church building. The hall is prettily decor.-* ated with many-coloured streamers,, while the stalls give evidence of muchi careful thought and work in their est tablishmeht. The fair, which was opened this afternoon, will be' continued! this evening, and to-morrow afternoon! and evening. The opening ceremony was performeel by the Mayoress (Mrs R. Galbraith)„ who complimented the ladies upon their} keenness on such a worthy cause, and! upon the completeness of the arrangements. After declaring the fair open„ she was presented with a bonquet by; one of the little girls, on behalf of thief Guild. . .

Though the weather is dull, a fasti amount of business has been doneAdequate arrangements have been] made for the supply of Afternoon tea is available, and there will be a knife and fork tea from 5.30 p.m. Musical items will be given this evening, followed by supper. The general arrangement of the stalls reflects great credit on those responsible, and shows the'Church to be possessed of a band! of very willing workers. The stallholders are as follow:—Plain and fancy: Mesdames Rv Collins, H. J. Constable, and F. HKnight; cake: Mesdames J. Moore and Stoine; produce: Mrs C. Tubb and! Miss A. Watson; children's: Mesdames T. Pethick, King, Bishop, and S« Graham; sweets: Mesdames D. F* Keir. Hardy, and T. Dunham '4 novelty: Mesdames J. W. Baker, B-, Dobbie, and A. Black; handerchief: Mrs W. H. Higgins and Sister Mildred ; flower: Maisie Carter; in charge* of tearooms: Mesdames John Watsonj and W. Corbett, assisted bv Mesdames Joseph Watson,' Scott, Wilkinson,. D. Jones, and D.
