The third annual fixture of the Rakaia Ploughing Match Association was held on Mr J. G. McLachlan's farm yesterday. Unfortunately, the weather, which was very wet and stormy, caused the attendance to fall short of former years. Although the men opened out in very adverse the work generally was of a very high order and there was a wonderful improvement in the local classes. The teams on the ground made a fine show, and were considered equal to anything iriiNew Zealand. Although it was raining heavily, a start was made at 10.30 ana the events were got off in good time. The success of the match was due to Mr' R. Oakley (president), Messrs. A. Holmes (secretary), L. Cordner (treasurer), and an energetic committee.
