McGee, R. Johnstone, AV. Smith. It will be observed that the combined entry of •cyclists and athletes is one of the best that could lie obtained in the colony. The inclusion of Sutherland, Barker, A. Radston, and Ken. Lewis,, constitute a splendid rear division. Grant, Dick Connell, and the Sauer brothers arc also worthy riders, while the local requirements will be attended to by A. Huston, C. C Willis, and H. Holland. Regarding the Sheffield Handicap, a better class of athletes has never stripped for contest in Aushburton since the days of Huls'ton and Hune, and excellent times should be recorded. Licensing Committee. A special meeting of the Ashburton Licensing Committee was held this morning. Present:—Messrs C. A. Wray, B.M. (chairman), D. Thomas, A. McFarlane, and J. Sealy. The sole business was lie consideration of an application for a temporary license for the ram and ewe fair. The application was granted.
