THE FIRE ON THE OPAWA.
FURTHER DAMAGE TO CHEESE. (Per Press Association—Copyright). LONDUN, February 25. The owners of the Opawa, the New Zealand Shipping Company, have- received a telegram from Peri in stating that the fire in No. 3 hold in the ’tween decks was still serious, but was under control. There had been further damage to the cheese, which was running to oil. The cargo was being removed. Considerable damage to the cargo was probable in Nos. 1 and 2 holds. The refrigeration temperature is holding good, and the danger to these holds is primarily due to non-refrigeration of cargo. Part of the trunkiways in No. 3 hold has been destroyed.
