OCCUPATION DEADLOCK.
BRITAIN AND FRANCE. QUESTION of security. (Per Press Association —Copvrigh'Y LONDON, February 25. The Paris correspondent of the “Daily Herald” says a deadlock has been reached in Anglo-french conveisations’in reference to the disarmament of Germany and the evacuation of the Cologne area. . The French insist upon linking up both subjects with the question of French security, and are supported m this attitude by Afcushal Foch s pessimistic report with reference to the dangerous condition of Gennaaiy s armaments. . • Some of the conclusions drawn in tliis report are vigorously •combatted by the British, military representative in Paris. ■ , ~ , in consequence of the' deadlock, France welcomes the proposed Aliiecl conference at Brussels, feeling that, with Belgium’s support, a stubborn case can be made out against evacuation.
BRITISH FREEDOM OF ACTION. NO undertaking GIVEN. LONDON, February 25. Air Austen Chamberlain., replying to a question in the House of Commons, said no undertaking bad been given in connection with the security ot France which would affect Bi itam s freedom of action regarding the evacuation of Cologne.
