THE WEATHER
FINE SPELL CONTINUES. The spell of fine weather that set ia after the bad weather of the weekend, and following a sharp rise in the barometer, continues. The heat to-day was more in keeping with the summer days, and harvesting is proceeding apace. The barometrical reading at 9 a.m. to-day was 30.13 inches. Yesterday's highest reading of the thermometer was 68 degrees in the shade, and the lowest reading for the 24 hour* was 49 degrees.
CONDITIONS AT EIFFELTON. During the month of January therainfall at Eiffelton amounted to 2.45' inches. Rain fell on seven days> the heaviest being en January 26, when 76 points was registered at the bureau controlled by Mr John McLauchlan. On January i and 9 one point was recorded, these being the lowest reading* for the month.
OFFICIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast, waft issued by the Government Meteorolo* gist this morning:— % Indications are for easterly winds,, moderate to strong. There is a prospect of fair to oloudy weather. Baaometefc falling fast.
