MR MASSEY'S VIEWS.
ENDORSED BY MR BRUCE.
EMPIRE CONSULTATION.
CONFERENCES IN DOMINIONS. (Per Press Association— Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Referring to Mr Massey's agreement with the views of Mr L. C. M. S. Amery, that if Britain expected the overseas Ministers to make periodical visits to London in order to consult British Ministers, the latter should be equally prepared to make the journey overseas and hold conferences in the various parts of the Empire,Mr S. M. Bruce said he cordially welcomed not only Mr Amery's suggestion, but Mr Massey's endorsement. He entirely agreed with the opinion that there was an urgent necessity for some arrangement being made whereby more frequent conferences would be held by the representatives of the self-governing portions of the Empire without it being compulsory for the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand to travel to London. If arrangements could be made for the holding of conferences in the different centres of the Empire it would be quite possible to have more frequent consultations than was found practicable in the past: He welcomed the suggestion for the periodical visits of British Ministers, as it was only by so doing that British statesmen could hope to obtain first-hand information on problems which confronted the different parts of the Empire.
