COMMONWEALTH BUDGET. RECIPROCAL TRADE TREATIES. (Per Press Association —Copyright.) MELBOURNE, July 27. It is forecasted that Dr. Earle Page, in his Budget speech on Thursday next will announce a reduction of the Federal income-tax by £2,000,000. Other features will be more money for defence.' no reduction in tariff duties, and help to the primary industries to market their surplus products. There will also be a reference to trade reciprocity with Canada and other Dominions. Speaking at the Commercial Travellers’ annual banquet in Sydney, Senator Pratten said the Government was giving close attention to the question of reciprocal trade with Canada, the extension of the reciprocity treaties with New Zealand and South Africa, also some practical assistance to -fche development of trade with Eastern •countries.
