RAKAiA. In order to provide some way for the young men of the township to spend a pleasant evening the Salvation Army officers organised a social meeting for Thursday evening in the Library. Songs were sung by Mrs B. Breach and the two officers, Mr Frew gave trombone selections, Walter Judkins and Alan Good recited, and various gramophone selections were given. A pie and coffee supper was served, and was much appreciated. It is the intention of the Army to continue this form of • meeting during the winter months. On Thursday night a meeting of the. Young People's Mutual Improvement Society in connection with the Methodist Church was held. The evening took the form of a mock trial, a breach of promise case for £ISOO damages. After an interesting passage-at-arms a verdict for plaintiff for £BOO for the shock and £2OO for the damages was returned; but in order to provide for an amicable understanding being readied judgment was deferred for ten years!
I.YNNFORD. At the shoot on Monday; night some food scores were put on. The final for Messrs McDonald and Dunlop's trophy was concluded, and after a keen contest was won by C. Noble, with a score of 33. Following are some of the scores:—F. Morriss 35, C. Noble 34 O. Dell 33, J. Yeandle 33, L. ,Moore 33, L. Noble 33, J. Dell 32, J. Mclnnes 32, W. Stoddar.t 31, N. Mcintosh 31. The Hotty Button was won by F. Morriss. Before the shootino- commenced Mr J. Dell moved a vote of sympathv to Mr J. Henderson and family, on the bereavement in the family caused by the. death of Mrs Henderson. On Thursday night the attendance was small but some good shooting was done. J. Yeandle 35, H. Donaldson 35 J McTnnis 34, C. Noble 34, N. Mcintosh 33, 0. Dell 32.
