The Carpentier-Tunney match will commence on the polo grounds at 9 o’clock on Thursday night. Both tip the scales under 175 pounds. Tunney exceeds Carpentier in height and reach. His physical measurements are virtually the same. Tunney is a stiff left-handed puncher, and his American light-heavyweight title is at stake. Descamps is confident Tunney will not last more than five rounds, while Tunney’s manager is confident Carpentier will go down in the sixth round.

Ashburton and Mayfield are second in this competition with equal points and Springburn are half a point in the lead. Rakaia are fielding a strong team, so if they can come out a winner it will depose the Springburn Club to second place. The match between Ashburton and Mayfield will be an interesting match, as both sides are keen for a win. Tlie third grade match, Old Boys y. Rakaia, should be a win for the Rakaia who have the leading third grade team. Seven-a-side entries close on Saturday.
