FEDERAL POLITICS
COALITION MAY BREAK.
MR BRUCE’S DIFFICULTIES.
LEADERS’ PACT NOT HONOURED
(Per Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The negotiations between the Federal Nationalist and Country parties for maintaining the pact against the Labourites have reached a critical point. Mr Bruce (Nationalist) and Dr. Earle Page (Country Party) made the pact, which, however, members of the Country Party declined to accept', contending it should have been submitted for the consideration of the party before acceptance, and are now making certain demands on the Nationalists which Mr Bruce declines to concede, demanding that the pact between the leaders should l>e honoured. Conferences so far have failed to find a solution. Failure to reach an agi'eement will mean a break between the parties and the withdrawal of Country Party members from Cabinet, aixd its reconstruction.
