PRINCIPAL SALES YESTERDAY. 1 The near approach of the closing down of the freezing works for the season was responsible for a record entry of fat stock at the Tinwald yards yesterday. There was a very large attendance, and in spite of the unusually big entry bidding was very spirited all through. The yarding included 3522 fat ewes, 227 fat wethers, about 400 fat lambs, between 3000 and I innn _j. J AC s>n+fla I

4000 stores, and 45 head ot cattle. Prime ewes made from 28s to 31s Bd, | -the latter figure being for a pen of 211 sold on account of Mr R. Austin, of Mayfield. Second quality made 24s 4d to 26s 2d, nd inferior sorts 18s lid to » 22s 6d. Wethers brought 27s 9d to 34s 4d. Prime lambs realised up to 40s 6d and the over-all price was just about "llsd per lb. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated June 6, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: Butter.—The market is uncertain.
