There will be a number of sideshows, in addition to competitions and produce stalls, and a large quantity of gifts of produce and needlework has been received. The bazaar promises to be a great success. The Methven Gun Club will hold the third of a series of hare drives tomorrow, starting from Bennett's Corner at 9 a.m. These drives are proving very popular, and a large party is expected to- take part to-morrow. The newly-formed Golf Club is making good headway and great enthusiasm is being shown by During the week-end the links were occupied continuously audi 'seine interesting games were played. So far no champions have been brought to light, but-the play is already showing im-. provement, and the new club promises to' be a big success. On Friday afternoon the Rev. IT. Hi Barton, secretary of the Foreign Missions Committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, paid a visit to Methven and delivered an address in St. John's Schoolroom to an interested audience. Mr Barton, who ,

had recently visited India and China in the interests of the Mission, gave a .very interesting and instructive account of the work of the Church in villages of those countries and showing 'the present needs and future prospects of the Mission. At the conclusion of the address a hearty .vote of thanks was accorded the .speaker. The weekly shoot of the Methven Miniature Rifle Club was held on Thursday evening. A sweepstake was

held and the following tied for first place with scores of 35:—G. H. Nicholls 34 (1), G. McAnulty 33 (2); J. Anderson 32 (3), R. Ruddenklau 27 (8). The handicaps are given in parentheses. The shoot-off has not been completed. The Hotty Button was shot for, and the winner was J. A. Wightman, with a possible, G. H. NipholJs being runner-up with 34.

RAKAIA. The monthly meeting of the Rakaia branch of the P.W.M.U. was held in St. Andrew's Schoolroom, Mrs Morrison presiding over a good attendance. A letter was received from the P.W.M.U. executive stating that this year each branch could choose its own which to work, arid pointing out the special requirements of each mission. The help of the branch was also asked in regard to the sale iof New Hebrides arrowroot and Oriental work. It was decided to defer consideration of these matters until the annual meeting, which' occurs next month. An invitation was received from the Cberteey branch to attend its annual meeting on June 11, aftd several members expressed their intention to be present. A missionary letter from Mrs Bowie was read by Mrs Oakley, and Mrs Morrison gave a brief account of the Canton Village Mission. Afternoon tea was served. The weekly meeting of the Rakaia Young People's Mutual Improvement Society was held in the Methodist Church. Mr Alexander was in tlie chair,.and there was a fair attendance. The evening was devoted to a lecture by Mr E. Alexander on " Clean Sport." At the weekly shoot of the Rakaia Miniature Rifle Club the prize was a sweepstake. The shoot also counted in the championship aggregate and consecutive bull's competitions. The following: tied with total scores of 35: G. Todd 27—8, L. Boag 34—2, and R. Moore 29—6. In the first shootoff G. Todd 32—8 and R. Moore 29—6 again tied; and the final shoot-off was left until next week. The hotty button for the week was won by G. Cromie with 35. Seven consecutive bulls were registered by G. Cromie.

DORli. ! At the weekly shoot of the Dorie Miniature Rifle Club the prize was a trophy presented by Mr W. E. Judkins. The following tied with total scores of 35:—H. Harrison 35 —3, S. Hyland 35—1, R. Shanks 34—4, H. Currey 31—4, D. McMillan 34—2. S. Hyland won on the fourth shoot-off, H. Harrison being second. Very consistent shooting was done by S. Hyland,. his scores for the evening being'3s, 35, 34, 34, 35. A match will be fired on Wednesday evening against Seafield on the Dorie range. A most enjoyable concert was given in the Ardamine Hall, Dorie, by* an' Ashbui'ton concert party. There was a i large attendance, many coming from I Seafield, Pendarves, and Rakaia. The programme, which consisted of songs, musical monologues, instrumental items, and step-dancing, was much ap- j predated, nearly every item being encored. After the concert Mr W. Harrison proposed a vote of thanks to the party for their kindness in journeying from Ashburton to give the ' concert. A dainty supper was handed round by the ladies, after which the floor was cleared for dancing. The music was supplied by McDonald's ■ orchestra. The proceeds of the concert, ■ with the sale of sweets by Misses V. Kingsbury and F. Harrison, should be about £l6, whicli will be handed to the church renovation fund.

LYNNFORD. At the Lynnford Miniature Rifle Club's meeting last Monday week there was a good attendance of members, and some good shooting was done. . F. Morriss won the Hotty Button with a score of 34. On Thursday night some good scores were again put on, the following being a few of them:—H. Donaldson 35. F. Morriss 32, M. Mcintosh 32, A. Keith 32, L. Noble 32, J. Yeandle 34, J. Dell 31. The final for Bennett and Walls' troohy is being very keenly contested, and will not be concluded till Monday night.
