A telegram from Montreal says: In the task of striking at the drug traffic in Canada, mounted, police played the part of traffickers, and themselves went to Spain for the purpose of bringing back drugs. They had them smuggled through the Customs at Montreal, and , after a year’s work completed their case., the upshot being the appearance of Miguel Molilqueer, Spanish- Consul, and Raymond Torrento, another Spaniard, before Judge Ousson. Police-Sergeant Brown testified that he was introduced to Torrento by Moluqueer, receiving letters of introduction to persons in Spain, and to others who arranged the bribery of the Custom employees. The Consul’s counsel entered a formal protest against the latter’s arrest, on the ground of diplomatic immunity. The hearing will be continued on Wednesday. Sergeant Brown, during his dealings with the Consul, claimed l to be an American drug importer on a large scale.
