ASHBURTON HOTELS

HAS NO-LICENSE HURT THEM?

WHAT THE TOURISTS SAY. A large party of tourists who visited : Ashburton yesterday and to-day were asked to express tlieir opinions on Ashburton hotels as compared with those - in licensed areas. It had been sug- - gested by a contemporary newspaper that no-license district houses generally compared unfavourably with those of ~ liquor districts. Each of the tourists interviewed expressed great satisfaction with the Ashburton houses, and stated that for comfort, conduct, and general provision they were quite the equal of ’■* those to be found in “ wet” towns of v greater size. Ashburton hotels, how- - ever, had impressed them much moTe favourably than those of some of the no-license areas down south.
