" —— % 9 ACTION AT KAIAPOL Yesterday afternoon a meeting was held in the"board-room of the Industrial Association of Canterbury at Christchurch, which a number of representative gentlemen from the Kaiapoi district met to hear a brief address by Mr J. S. Tulloch, on the advantages to the whole community of growing sugar beet. The various phases of the enterprise were dealt with and questions brought up by those present were answered bv Mr Tulloch. It was decided that Mr Tulloch be asked to address a public meeting in Kaiapoi on August 14. The following is a list ,of those present: —Mr Ward, Fields Instructor, Agricultural Department; Mr Mclntosh, Mayor of Kaiapoi; Mr J. H. Blackwell, late Mayor of Kaiapoi; Mr N. Heney. president Kaiapoi Farmers' Union: Mr H. E. Evans, chairman Eyre County Council; and Messrs W. H Stark, Forrest, and T. Lynskev. In view of the decision of the Minister of Industries and Commerce to refer the matter to a special committee of the House, the Industrial Association has arranged for Mr Tulloch to deliver a public address in the Jellico© Hall on August 7.
