Mr (5. Kelly, Ashburton County Clerk, Who was removed to the hospital on Monday night suffering from an internal complaint, is reported to be as well as the circumstances permit.
Mr J. A. Young, M.P. for Hamilton, was yesterday elected Chairman of Committees and Deputy-Speaker of the House, unopposed. Mr Young is a dentist by profession, and a man of "very fine disposition.
Messrs T. E. Robson, W. J. Moir, R. 8. Draper, Wm. Page, and Major Row, of Christchurch, are visitors to Ashburton in connection with, the South Island Amateur Boxing ‘Championships.
Princess Maud’s marriage "to Lord Carnegie has been fixed for October 1-5, in the Guards’ Chapel, at 'Wellington Darracks. It will be the first Royal "wedding to take place there. Princess Maud, who was born in 1893, is the youngest daughter of the Princess Royal, Dowager Duchess of Fife, eldest sister of the King. Lord Carnegie is fhe eldest son and heir 'of the Earl of Southesk, and is a captain in the Scots Guards. Ho is five months younger than Princess Maud.
