LADIES’ MATCHES. The second matches in the second round for the Gala --op competition were decided on Saturday. The drew was: Ashburton Ladies v. Hinds, at the Domain; High School v. Tinwald A, at Tinwald. Rakaia won by forfeit from Tinwald B. Ashburton Ladies put up a splondid game against Hinds notwithstanding the serious handicap of playing nine instead of 11 players; in fact, tlie game was much in Ashburton’s favour, and it was only due to the superior goal shooting by Hinds that the latter was able To. gain premier place. Ashburton is a greatly improved team. Hinds won by five goals to nil. Miss M. Fulton was the only scorer for Hinds. Mr H. Millichamp was referee. High School v Tinwald A match was witnessed by a good number of spectators. The game was decidedly an favour of School throughout. The chief fault of tho Tinwald team was their lack of supoorfc to the hacks ana goal in the critical stages of the game It is all right to May well up the held when attacking, hut it is essential to set hack for sound defence. Tho School played a well-combined game, and fully merited their win by six goals (scored hv B. Millichamp 4 and M. Dixon 2) to nil. Mr M. Baker controlled the game.
