HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. PICTURES AND VAUDEVILLE. A SPLENDID ATTRACTION. “Big Stake- h opens at His Majesty’s ' ’-ht, is an unusual acti'. West. Jt. B. Warner 1 , dlinor Fair, is in the } e is real riding and ropin'.' -‘il a monster is shown as ap. of the story,;and interesting as well aJ3 amusing lncidentsare written around some Mexican jumping beans. The picture opens with a big free-for-all fight scene that is full of action, and this tempo is sustained throughout most of the picture. A gentler atmosphere, of course, is injected into the love scenes, but these make up in ardour what they lack in action. The picture will be screened; again on Wednesday night. The vaudeville portion of the programme, which proved a pleasing diversion last night, was rendered by Elsa Lewis, siffleuse and violinist, and Louie Duggan, vocalist. Both artists, whose several efforts were keenly appreciated, are on Fuller’s Circuit. By their performance last night they considerably enhanced their high reputation. Elsa Lewis was heard m many demonstrations of her skill in the art of whistling. Playing the violin, she whistled tunes to the accompaniment of it and the piano, which was presided over by Madame Oadzow. The violin solos by this artiste were splendidly rendered, and evoked great applause. Louie Duggan, a singer of outstanding merit, added to the enjoyment of the audience by her renderings of many classical items. Her voice is full and well-balanced, and her interpretations last night were of a high standard. These vaudeville turns will ho staged again to-night and tomorrow night.
