TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO. (From “Guardian,” Dec. 15, 1897). The monthly meeting of the Ashburton School Committee was held last evening. Present—Mess cock, Meddins, Chapman, Phaup, and Steel. The report was The mistress of the Allenton School has reported that the roll number at present is—boys 32, girls 31, total 63. The average attendance for the past four weeks—boys 25.8, girls 26.4 —total 52,2. In regard to the holidays, Miss Forrester suggested closing the school on December 23.
