RUGBY FOOTBALL.
THE NEW ZEALAND UNION. (Per Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, November 1. Plain-spoken criticism was indulged i? »y .members of the Wellington Kugby Union to-night on the proposal circularised by the president of the ew Zealand Union (Mr McLeod) to' the affiliated unions for reconstruction of the Management Committee of the parent body by. the election of delegates from outside the metropolis. The chairman (Mr Prendeville) entered a protest against the writer's action m departing from established practice m addressing the unions direct instead of approaching them at the annual meeting of the Rugby Union. Mr Griffiths, a member of the New Zealand Management Committee, remarked that the recent Springbok tour netted £10,000. He agreed that the matter* of reconstruction should have gone to the parent union first. Whatever one might think of the acts of the present Management Committee the president's letter was outside the committee's function to discuss. After discussion it was unanimously decided simply to receive the letter.
