SHEEPOWNERS' UNION.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE
The executive of the Canterbury Sheepowners' Union met yesterday. A letter was received from the Minister for Agriculture m reference to a resohition passed at the previous meeting m connection with methods of rabbit destruction. It was. decided to refer the question involved to Mr G. Murray, chairman of the South Canterbury Committee. The South Island Freezing Companies' Association wrote m connection with proposals made regarding freezing charges for next season. The letter was received, and it was agreed to go thoroughly into the matter at the annual meeting. A letter was received from the Commissioner of Taxes acknowledging receipt of a resohition m connection with the increases m the land taxation, advising that the matter mentioned was receiving the attention of the Department. A cablegram was received from the Premier m reference to freight and shipping charges and handling charges on New Zealand produce at United Kingdom ports, and the reimposition of draft deduction on wool. These matters will come before the annual meeting on August 10.
