BURNSIDE MARKET.

DUNEDIN, June 22

The Burnside -sales to-day were well supplied with fat stock m all departments, with the exception of fat oattle, m which there was a short supply and a sharp advance m prices resulted. Sheep, lambs and "pigs also .realised fair values, and there was an improvement m the store cattle market, both' m regard to numbers and quality. Fat Cattle — 'There was a small yarding of medium quality, the number penned being 153 at the opening of the side. Competition was very keen, and values realised weire 20s to 30s a head above last week's rates. There was a large proportion of cows and [heifers m to-day's yarding. Prime oxbeef realised up to 43s a 1001 b, but the major portion of the ox-beef sold would be worth m the vicinity of 41 s - Cow-beef brought from 22» to 30s. iPrime bullocks realised £19 to £24 10s; medium, £15 to £18; light and unfinished sorts, from £9 upwards. Prime heifers realised from £13 to £16; medium, £10 to £12 10s; light and aged, from £7 upwards. Store Cattle. — A better supply was sent forward for to-day's 1 sale. The yarding met with improved competition, and prices realised were a few shillings a head m advance of late rates for all good sorts offered. The yarding included a few pens of bullocks m forward condition.

Sheep. — A large yarding, numbering 3963 head which showed improvement m standard of quality considering the large number forward. Good prices were realised, while there were some good lines of small halfbred wethers, which were keenly competed for. Prices as a whole were on a par with those of last week, wether mutton being worth about 4d a pound, and ewe mutton 3d to 3Jd. Prime wethers, sold at 24s to 26s 6d, medium wethers 19s to 22s 6d, lighter weights 14s to 17s 6d. Prime ewes sold at 18s to 22s 6d, medium 14s to 16s, light and inferior 10s to 13s. Lambs— A large yarding, numbering 2470 head, of fair quality. There was very keen competition, freezing buyers operating freely, and a clearance was effected at very satisfactory prices. Values ranged from 15s to 28s a head, equal to 7d a lb, and occasionally a shade more. Pigs — A medium yarding of mixed sorts, of all classes, met with good competition, and a clearance _ was effected at prices. on a par with late rates. Best porkers and baoorieirs realised from 8d to 9d a lb. \
