! GOAL MINERS' STRIKE.
SITUATION IN BRITAIN. THE COST TO THE COUNTRY. (Per ±*res« Association Uopyxignc.) LONDON, April 10. It is estimated that tihe strike is costing the country £15,750,000 a week, including £3,250,000 for defence measures. In consequence of the decision of the Miers' Federation, the pumpmen m most areas haye resumed work at the old rates of pay, not waiting for volunteers to replace them. The South Wales coalfield has been saved m the nick of time. The actual floodings are twenty pits m Scotland, eighteen m. England, ;and three m Wales. ■ (Received April 12, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON April 11. Messrs Thomas and Cramp telegraphed the Northumberland railwaymen that they must strike on Tuesday unless the negotiations result m a settlement. ■ The West Fife strikers last night applied direct Cctiori, drawing the fires to prevent pumping at _ the Blackall Colliery. The police arrived too late, but will prevent damage to the machinery.
