Members of the fore© belong to the Port Police, but shipowners pay the entire cost of their special work aboard ships. Mr Gosling, secretary of the Dockers Union, has approved of the scheme prior to its inauguration, declaring he would welcome any project which would remove the stigma from the dockers. The force is not expected to begin to sho"- results immediately, but already increasing prosecutions are promising success. The dockers have not raised difficulties. The Australian ownere ere gratified and the Overseas Committee haT.adopted a similar scheme at Australian ports.
