Sir, —There is certainly no "Taihoa" policy about'out worthy Mayor, especially where ' Hampstead folk are concerned. He does expect them to ''step lively." Consider this as an example of speeding! This should have been done by the present date." Time limit: Seven weeks. ' Just so! Now, consider the Mayor's own record. Plans for the Borough scheme submitted to the Council (signed by F. J. Williams, C.E.),- on October IS, 1918; poll taken on March 16, 1920; time: one year , . and five months. Poll carried March » 10, 1920; tenders called to close Nov.-" 18. Time: Eight months. , Third performance :—Tendens closed for No. 111 contract, Nov. 16." It is now December 10. Four weeks gone and nothing doing! He seems to expect Hampstead to do in seven weeks -what ;'• 'it' took .the Borough about five years to ' '^ ihing further. The Mayor says: :< 'cJ-iT ■ OUF own ratepayers' interest^: to' look after,."
