PERSONAL.
,A presentation took, place at the Post Office yesterday afternoon, when members of the staff met for the purpose of saying farewell to Miss E. ■ Hatch, ,who for the past 18 months has held the position .of exchange snpervisor. The Postmaster, Mr G. 11. Harle, in. presenting Miss Hatch with a silver cake-dish, expressed the regret of the staff at her approaching depar- ■ ture from Ashburton, and wished her , every happiness in her new honie in Greymouth. Last evening Miss Hatch was farewelled by a larce number of friends in the Victoria Hall, where a very enjoyable function was held. Appreciative references were made to • the guest's qualities by Messrs P. Ryan and V. Cullen, and Miss Hatch was the recipient of some handsome presents as a token of goodwill. An enjoyable dance followed, the music beine: supplied by Misses M. Scott, D. and E. Cullen, Bradley, and' K. Burgess. A dainty supper was served. In the course of the evening instrumental and vocal items were contributed by Misses M. Brophy, M. Scott, K. Burgess, M. Quigley, E. Hatch, and F. McLauchliu. Mr V. Cullen officiated as.M.C. The function was' organised by Miss N. Hartnett. Miss Hatch, who is shortly tn be mnrrie3, leaves to-morrow fo£ Greymouth. ; -?\'
