The latter is in first-class order, and the going is fast. The. weather is threatening. It was cold early in the forenoon, but later the wind turned to the northeast, and the sun shone warmly. The public enclosures were splendidly sheltered by a pine belt. The attendance of the public was a record, Christchurch visitors in a special train swelling the crowd. The acceptances were a record for the club, being 30 more than the nominations last year. The fields in almost all the events were good, and the racing interesting. The racing was delayed for an hour and a< quarter owing to the'lateness of the special- train., Results:-— Mount Harding Hurdles.—ViceRegal 1, Mandrake 2, Strayshot 3. Also started: Good Hope.
