ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH
YOUNG PEOPLE'S DAY.
SERVICES HELD YESTERDAY
Yesterday was Young People's Day in the Presbyterian Church throughout New Zealand, and the services during the day were especially for Sunday School scholars. The services at St. Andrew's Church, which were conducted by the Hey. G. Miller, were largely attended, and the front of the church had been tastefully decorated. At the morning service the children and Sunday School teachers occupied the centre of the church and took part in the singing and readings as provided in the special order of service used during the day. Mr Miller, basing his remarks on Psalm CXIX., 105: "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path," spoke specially to the childreh and Ijold how many of the early Christians had suffered and fought to retain their Bible.
In the afternoon, the children and members of the. Bible classes assembled in the church and were addressed by Mr Miller. The prizes won at the General Assembly's examinations were distributed.
The following were awarded prizes: Keith Anderson, Alan Bruce, Lloyd Jones, Gordon Moore, Nina Buchanan, Charles Fechney, Archie McPherson, Peter McLauchlan, Alice Miller, Mary Guild, John McLauchlan, Ella Anderson, Hugh Hunter, Donald McPherson, Meredith Moore, Ella Shaw, Olive Wills, Jean Jones Margaret McLauchlan, Kathleen Slade and 'Marjory Barr.
The evening's discourse was from Isaiah VI., 8, Mr Miller laying special stress on the claims of the ministry on young New Zealanders. The collections throughout the day were for the Youth of the Church Fund.
