NEW ZEALAND TEAM IN SYDNEY

VICTORY AGAINST METROPOLITAN. .

SYDNEY, August 11. New Zealand's final contest against the Metropolitan Club team was a runaway affair, the visitors winning by 81 to 5. The local team was without' prominent players and was helpless as schoolboys before the Black invasions. Shortly after the commencement Hingst gathered near touch and, skirting past Badeley, crossed, Mingay converting. From this out New Zealand initiated a succession of passing movements, which invariably ended in a score. The local men's defence was the feeblest imaginable. Tries were secured by the following:—Baird and Badeley (three each), Tilyard, Jacobs, McLean and Moffat (two each), Storey, Wilson, Roberts, Duncan and West (one each). New Zealand played seven matches, altogether, scoring 266 against 77.
