SHERWOOD.

On Friday evening a benefit social was held in Mr G. State's granary at Sherwood. The purpose was to raise a sum of £20 to pay for an operation to be performed on a young lady who has been deaf and dumb since early years. It is hoped by this means to restore her faculties. There was a large number present and the floor was in good order. The music was provided locally, and songs were rendered by Miss 'M. Goodwin.
