EXECUTIVE'S PROTEST.
WELLINGTON, April 27
The Government's decision to'make no further advances under Section 2 of the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act has caused widewircjad. indignation amongst returned soldiers. The matter was considered by the standing subcommittee of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association to-night, in view of the fact that many returned men : have entered into contracts and obtained options for the purchase of houses and lands, and that they have been seriously inconvenienced by.the withdrawal of Government advances without notice. Tlie committee passed the following resolution: —" That_ this committee condemns _ the action of the Government in withdrawing advances under the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act without notice, and calls upon the Government to provide sufficient -money forthwith to enable all returned soldiers who have entered into contracts or taken options for the purchase of properties to ...complete their engagements." It is understood that other people are affected besides returned soldiers, as in many cases the civilian who; has agreed to sell property••-. to returned soldiers has also agreed to purchase another property for his own use, arid in doing so has relied upon the returned soldier being able to securewari advance, from the Government. ,..,
