FRENCH TROOPS ATTACKED.

(Per Press Association Copyright.) PARIS, April. 27. A battalion of French infantry and a squadron of cavalry occupying Urfa, the last post between the Tigris and the Euphrates, were surrounded by Mustapha Kernel's troops. The French were compelled to leave the town after an armistice. ■

The French were afterwards attacked by superior numbers. According to the Turks a portion of the French troops succeeded in returning to the town, and the remainder probably reached the railway.
