ALSACE VAUDEVILLE.
Commenting on the above company, which is to appear at the . Theatre Royal on Tuesday next, a leading daily said: "The . word 'vaudeville' was given a totally different meaning to that generally accepted, through the appearance of • the Alsace ' Company. Here is no hotch-potch of song and dance, red-nosed comedians splashing gratuitous filth freely a round, no overgenerous use of double-entendre and ' slapstook' foolery in order to raise doubtful laughs, 'instead, local playgoers had placed before them a rare treat in the entertainment line. Every .item on the generous programme bore the true professional touch. There were no wearisome delays, no seeking of recalls; nothing that would give offence. There was much to laugh at — humour that was real humour without being offensive, bright singing, clever musical offerings, and specialty acts. It was in reality an entertainment of a kind all too rare nowadays." The box plan is at The Bristol. '
