CLA3BY DEFEATS LLOYD

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April. 19.A fifteeu-rourd professional boxing contest between' A. Lloyd (Australia) and J. Clabby (United States), for a purse of £500, under the auspices of the Northern Boxing- Association, attracted a large, crowd this evening. The contest ended somewhat sensationally in the tenth round. 'The men were in the midst of a hot rating in Lloyd's corner, when Lloyd's right foot slipped on a wet patch of canvas. He fell heavily, but immediately rose, and. pluckily attempted to resume the contest, but it was seen that- his foot or leg 'had been severely injured. His seconds threw iii the towel, and the contest was stopped, the verdict being given to Clabbv. Up to the point of the accident, Lloyd was boxing well, and was leading on points.
