'NEW YORK, February 7. The New York Lawn Tennis Association has deckled to challenge Australia for the Davis Cup prior to March

The Association has decided to join the International Lawn Tennis Federation, with certain stipulations, including one that individual championships should be held in rotation by the dift'erent nations. It decided also to enter for the British championships, and the Olympic Games. (Received February 9, 9.10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 9. Owing to heavy rain the tennis court was unfit to play on, but it was de•cided to hold the doubles, the Victorians playing. Socks, O'Hara Wood, and Hawkes defeated Kingscote and i Beamish 6-4, 6—3, 6—B, 6—2. [ The singles have been postponed till i Tuesday.
