Swimming races under tliw auspices of tho Tinwald Swimming Club were held at tlit: 'I inwald Domain, baths last evening. Following were the results: Men's 50 yards'handicap (7.) —J. The chairman explained the object of the meeting was to decide what to do in -connection with running a. swimming sports programme for the rest of. tlie seasonIt was decided to hold similar meetings to the one just held as long as the weather permitted. Mi 1 T. Wilson was appointed treasurer lor the season. Mr .1. Mushct suggested that the old sports club should amalgamate' with the swimming club or that it should donate something to tholatter's funds. , Mr Tarbotton explained that as tho Sports Club was constituted at present, this suggestion was impossible. Mi 1 J. Cow considered the Swimming Club could well go on their own and hold their- own sports. Ho thought there was every hope. .of "the Sports Club being resuscitated. He was sorry swimming sports were dead in Ashburton, but. if Tinwald carried their programme through, it would assist the Ashburton Club to revive.

Tin; chairman announced that the promoters of the Swimming Club would be pleased to receive donations and his appeal was met by a response from one gentleman of £<3, several binaller amounts being received, bringing the total almost to £10.
