The doath is announced of Sir Edmmid; Barton, G.C.M.G.,. P.C., D.C.L., L.L,D.., M.'A., Senior -Puisne Judge, High Court of Australia since 1903, and first Prime Minister of the GJommomvealth 190.1-3.
Sir Edmund Barton's death- was dramatically sudden. Hfe- liadi been in indifferent health fo;r some time, and was recuperating at the Hydro Majestic,. M'ed'lou'. He ■ wont, io his bath, which' was -always n lengthy process, a.nd' no alarm was felt till' iiittempts to open the door failoti'. Entrance was gainedl through n window, when it Avaf found that Sir Tkimniid, finishing his bath and dressing' in' Ms pyjamas, had' collapsed behind the- door. He died of heart failure.
