MACHINE GUNS FOR POLICE

"DUBLIN, January 6. Owing to the increased attacks on barracks the Government has decided to supply Lewis, guns to the police in the south-west of Ireland. Two expert gunners/will be located'at each barracks. *

James Hoey, a prominent Sinn Feiner, was arrested recently. He organised .an insurance company to prevent business going to England.

An armed party raided tho. residence of Hibbert, Magistrate of Scariff, County Clare, and wounded a maidservant. Hibbert returned the fire and wounded a raider.
