WAR MAILS.

Mails examined in the United Kingdom during the war by the postal cen-. sorship, it is estimated numbered 630 million packets. Approximately 1,300,----000 packets were detained on the ground that they would have aided the enemy.

Regarding the disposal of detained packets it has been decided that correspondence originating in or destined for the United Kingdom will be destroyed, except where it contains articles and documents of value, which can now be forwarded with safety. Private correspondence will be destroyed ,as it would bo impossible without very great expense to re-examine it. Mails released or about to be released approximately number 92,500 registered and 500,000 unregistered packets.
