HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.
A large number of spectators assembled at His Majesty's Theatre last evening to see the Gold wyn selection, featuring Mabel Normand in "Sis Hopkins." Her characterisation of Rose Melville's little country wisehead was responsible for considerable laughter. With the ridiculous daisies in her straw hat and pigeon-toed walk caused by enormous sized boots, Mabel was a different being to the Mabel in more elaborate productions, completely sinking her individuality and charms of beauty to fit tho character she • reproi sented. The play was also supported by a number of catchy titles and theße, with Mabel's quaint attire and country manners, gave the spectator many hearty laughs. The opening stages oi the programme were filled with the "Pathe Gazette" and an American scenic of Pine Peak and surroundings. The latter contained a fine selection of mountain scenes, including a photo of a freight train photographed from a great height wending its way through a gorge. Captain Barnfather's cartoons made up the other support, and these dealt with some of his noted sketches of Fragments from France. The programme will, be repeated this evening.1
