PARLIAMENT'S SYMPATHY.
(Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 30. The sad duty of passing a motion of condolence with the relatives of the late member for Buiier, Mr James Colvin, and appreciation of his-long public service was performed by members of / the House of l-tepresentatives in a quiet, restrained .manner, which indicated deep feeling. The House does not usually show such signs of emotion as" were visible when the • speakers mournfully spoke of the deceased's kindly qualities and his service of twenty years in the House as an ideal, goldfields member • (to use the Prime Minister's phrase). ■ Tributes came from every quarter, including a resolution from the Goldfields. Committee, sympathy from messengers of the House,, which Mr Wiiford had been asked to voice, and many telegrams of sympathy from all parts of New Zealand, which Sir. Joseph Ward, in the course of a feeling speech, read to the House. Immediately on passing the motion the House- adjourned until the evening.
