In a letter to friends in Auckland, Mr J. S. Fletcher, of Fletcher Bros.,' Ltd., Wellington, states that he had been told by the principals of firms in Canada and the United States, when discussing supplies, that materials ward not likely to come down in price. It was the opinion of United States manufacturers that in 12 or 18 months there would only be one country able to -supply the world's markets, namely, England" The American people stated quite frankly that they were makinc hay while the. sun shines. They did not expect to hold the export- market when England got her shoulders into the collar again.
