MEETINGS.
TINWALD TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Tinwaid Town Board was held last evening. Alembers present were: Alessrs T. Williams (chairman), H. B. Alillichamp, T. . Walson and W. H. Bell.
The Afayor of Ashburton wrote notifying that a'conference re the form of a peace memorial would be held on September 11.—The chairman was appointed- the board's delegate. Correspondence was received from the Valuer-General stating that he would do his best to accede to the Board's application for a re-valuation of the district, the new roll to be available for the purposes of the rating .year 1920-21.—Received.
The Chief Health Officer wrote asking if a special clean up week had been held. If not, what the Board proposed to- do.—-The matter was left in the hands of the chairman and Mr Wilson to arrange.
The New Zealand Automobile union wrote re hedges, bridges and rabbit-gatesi-—Koeeived.
The Society for the Health of Women and Children wrote asking for a grant to their'funds.—lt was decided to donate £4 4s.
A deputation consisting of Alessrs Mushet and Nordstrom wore received by the Board. The deputation pointed out the danger to school children coming from school at the corner of Graham's -Road, and also from traffic from the saleyards. Reference was also made to the state of the roads and footpaths.—ln the first'matter put before them, the Board decided to'- have warning boards erected for the information of motorists and stociT-drivers. The second matter was referred to the Works Committee.
The traffic inspector reported on several cases of speeding and fines imposed. ' ' The sanitary inspector reported that the district was in a satisfactory state of cleanliness. The clerk was instructed to notify occupiers that unless the water-race charges were paid, the water would be cut off. Transfers were granted as follow:— Lot 109 from C. E. Jessep to S. Culverhoiise; lo;t 528 from Airs J. Riley to I). J. Montgomery. Accounts amounting to £51 10s 4d were passed for payment. .
